Celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2019 – Fit India Plogging Event – Organized by DAV Model School IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal

On the auspicious occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, ‘The Fit India Plogging Run’ was celebrated on 2nd October 2019 by the students, teachers, staff, parents and grandparents of DAV MODEL SCHOOL, IIT KHARAGPUR with gaiety and enthusiasm.

Extending full support to the campaign, the enthusiasts participated in different activities at Bidhan Chowk (in front of the main building of IIT Kharagpur) and Technology Market (IIT Kharagpur campus). The activities conducted were speech, recitation, dance and street play keeping in mind the vision of Gandhiji - “Fitness, Disciplined life and Hygiene”. The event was witnessed and highly appreciated by the Esteemed Director of IIT Kharagpur and other Competent Authorities of IIT Kharagpur. Their praise and presence was a great motivation for our students.

Everybody joined the Plogging Event for liberation from the menace of single use plastic giving due respect to Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Clean India Fit India’. The initiative was to motivate them to hold their spirits high so that they are always alive to their responsibility towards the nation.

476 participants which included the students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents of DAV Model School IIT Kharagpur along with students and teachers of other non-attending schools. Other members of different service sectors from the community participated in the Plogging Run as well. The group carried banners and posters highlighting the message by the two national leaders – Mahatma Gandhiji and Honorable Prime Minister – and aptly carried forward the message “Cleanliness is next to Godliness’, by collecting plastic wrappers, plastic bottles, other litters while plogging in the rally, spreading the awareness for a Fit India and a Plastic free India.

The spirit of togetherness was celebrated in its true sense as everybody joined hands overcoming all kinds of differences which sent out vibrations of unity and belongingness.
