DAV MODEL SCHOOL, IIT KHARAGPUR REPORT ON COMMUNAL HARMONY WEEK “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in Harmony” - Mahatma Gandhi Communal Harmony consists of two words, i.e. ‘Communal’ and Harmony’. Communal means belonging to a particular community and Harmony means being at peace with other. There is hardly any other country in the world than India which has a greater diversity of culture, religions, languages, traditions, community etc. People live and think in terms of their respective religious, faiths and tongues, and seek to serve their selfish ends without thinking of the national good. Such thinking is dangerous and is bound to lead to the disintegration of the country in the long run. The need of the hour, therefore, is to fight the forces of disunity and dis-harmony and to work ceaselessly for the achievement of national and peace.

DAV Model School, IIT Kharagpur celebrated Communal Harmony week between 19th – 25th November, 2019. The school organized variety of activities to promote the concept of Communal Harmony.

 Poster making on Communal Harmony was conducted.

 Speeches that highlighted the similarities between Hinduism, Islam and Christianity and illustrated their common belief that ‘God is one’.

 One group song performed by the students was enchanting to the ears and they also told us about the message of Communal Harmony that says ----------------------------------------------------------

 One Fancy Dress walk arranged to showcase the religious diversity of our country.

Students learn about loving and respecting people of every religion and community without any discrimination. There was full participation of students and teachers and the programme was a grand success. Students were inspired by the message and they contributed generously to the Communal Harmony fund. The total collection was Rs. 10910/- for this noble cause.
