‘No education can be complete without the arts and creativity playing a central role in a child’s life’
The SCHOOL FEST- SPECTRUM 2019 of DAV Model School IIT Kharagpur was held on Saturday, 21 December 2019 in the School premise, IIT Kharagpur.
The esteemed guests on the occasion were Mrs. Kajal Bhattacharyya & Mrs. Barnali Chakrabarti. They were given a traditional welcome in tune with DAV custom in the gleaming program.
The programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp with chanting of Gayatri mantra, inaugural song with dance invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Principal Mrs. Lopa Chatterjee, in her speech highlighted the fact that we are accountable for our children and have to give time for imbuing a strong value system in the young aspiring students.
Theme based dances both Western and Folk dances of the tiny tots captivated the guests. The props and costumes added colour to the festive occasion with the synchronized dance movement to the foot tapping music. An astounding visual treat enthralled every spectator present. The perennial existence of music and its spiritual essence that symbolizes ‘Harmony’ was truly exhibited in the scintillating performances. The grandeur of the program left the audience enthralled.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest as well as the Guest of honour marked that it was a spectacular show put up by the children. They stated that the students have smartly carved a niche for themselves. She added that DAV Model School not only imparted excellent education but also had given great scruple and values so they can effectively carry forward in future.
The Science exhibition which was organized to develop the scientific temperament of the students in which the main emphasis was on Artificial Intelligence, Smart garbage disposal etc. Students made a number of thought provoking models which were highly appreciated by the guests.
In the Social Science exhibits that showcased the outstanding work of the students was appreciated by one and all. A sit and draw competition was also organized to show their latent artistic talents in front of their elders.
Through all these activities not only the imaginative and holistic development of the children was noticed.
A food festival was also a part of the program, in which a number of vending food stalls selling Indian cuisines offered parents, students, and educators an opportunity to mobilize and connect, along with the rich taste of the dishes.
The vote of thanks to the revered assembly of guests was proposed by Madam Dolorose Chatterjee.
