Co-curricular Activities 15-16  


In order to commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Dr. Srinivasa Ramanujan Iyengar (1887-1920) on 22nd December, 2015, CBSE had invited schools affiliated to it to celebrate GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovations & Training). In lieu of this, our school, DAV Model School, IIT Kharagpur conducted the following activities from 17th to 22nd December, 2015.  

  • Interactive activity-based session on Mathematics ( Class VIII to XI )



  • Quiz competitions  on the various topics in Mathematics (Class IX to XI )


  • Solving mathematical puzzles such as solving Rubik’s cube and creating magic squares (Class VI , VII & VIII)



  • Mathematical games such as Sudoku ( Class VI & VII )


  • Mathematics Relay Race (Class II , III, IV, V & VI )

A Relay Race was conducted where students were divided into 4 groups. Each group was given 4 sums to solve respectively. Whoever solved the sum in the first group, started running towards the next group.Whichever group finished first with the correct answers was declared the winner.



Students participated wholeheartedly and gave their best in all activities.Students rose to the challenge of solving the tricky quiz questions.Through the interactive sessions they understood and appreciated the significance of mathematics in nature, architecture, Pascal’s triangle. The sessions were a window to a beautiful and intricate side of mathematics which they often do not see. They could see at a glance, the world that Dr. Ramanujan saw. The activities were a plethora of knowledge.  At the end of the day, students were refreshed by the knowledge and information.  In a befitting manner  tribute was paid to the ‘Man of Infinity’ by approaching mathematics with pure joy.
