COMMUNAL HARMONY CAMPAIGN WEEK-2022

Communal Harmony consists of two words, i.e. ‘Communal’ and Harmony’. ‘Communal’ means belonging to a particular community and ‘Harmony’ means being at peace with others. There is hardly any other country in the world other than India which has a greater diversity of culture, religions, languages, traditions, community etc. People live and think in terms of their respective religions, faiths and tongues, and seek to serve their selfish ends without thinking of the national good. Such thinking is dangerous and is bound to lead to the disintegration of the country in the long run. The need of the hour is to fight the forces of dis-unity and dis-harmony and to work ceaselessly for the achievement of national peace.

DAV Model School, IIT Kharagpur observed Communal Harmony campaign week between the 19^th – 25^th of November 2022. The school organized a variety of activities to promote the concept of Communal Harmony:

• Poster making on Communal Harmony was conducted to bring out their thoughts on unity and peace.
• All faith prayers were conducted to highlight the similarities between Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism and Christianity. This illustrated their common belief that ‘God is one’.
• One group song that was performed by the students was enchanting to the ears and they also told us about the message of Communal Harmony that says “Aaj Himalay ki choti se”
• A group dance conveying the message of National Integration – “Anekta Me Ekta”
• Students effectively expressed the theme of religious unity through a street play named ‘Tala chabi ki kathay’. 

Students learn about loving and respecting people of every religion and community without any discrimination. There was full participation of students and teachers and the programme was a grand success.
