Legal Aid and Career Counselling

On 28th Aug, 2023 DAV Model School IIT Kharagpur organized a Legal awareness programme.

The Department of Intellectual property Law of “Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law", IIT KGP took the initiative and Law students of PRO BONO club conducted the session for the students of class IX and XI. They gave an overview on two topics:

• Legal dimensions and Societal issues: Child abuse and child Sexual Harassment, The right to education, Child marriage, the rights of elderly senior citizens, Domestic violence.

• Insights into Legal Profession: Educational requirements to become a lawyer, including undergraduate studies, Law School and passing the bar exam, various career paths including private practice, government agencies, corporate legal departments and non-profit organisation.

The session was highly beneficial and allowed students to interact with the guest speakers and seek clarification on any doubts or queries they had regarding a career in law. The session encouraged our students to think critically about societal issues to foster responsible behaviour as national and global citizens.
