SWACHH BHARAT, SWACHH VIDYALAYA.

Mahatma Gandhi said “Sanitation is more important than Independence”. He used to emphasize that cleanliness is most important for physical well being and a healthy environment. Swachh Bharat, Swachh Vidyalaya is the national campaign driving ‘Clean India, Clean Schools’. This campaign was launched on September 2014 heralding a new era in the Indian government’s focus on WASH in schools.

DAV  MODEL SCHOOL, IIT KHARAGPUR under the guidance of our Principal Madam Lopa Chatterjee and the Sports and Social Science teachers have also taken up this initiative to instill the surge of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the students of the school, parents and community.  Students of Class IX- XII have actively taken up the following activities on 30.09.2019:

• Cleaning their own classrooms and school premises.
• Cleaning of the Shahid Smriti and the statue of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati along with a speech on his contribution.
• Speech on importance of cleanliness and hygiene in school and neighbourhood.
• Poster making competition on ‘Swachh Bharat, Swachh Vidyalaya giving importance on saving water, maintenance of sanitation and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The objective of this activity is to make a visible impact on the health and hygiene of children through improving both their health and hygiene practices and also those of their families and communities.
