On 2nd October 2025, Swachh Bharat Diwas is observed as a heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation on his Jayanti. This year, under the theme “Swachhotsav”, the Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign (17th Sept – 2nd Oct) and Swachhata Pakhwada were celebrated with great enthusiasm and responsibility.
The campaign focused on key areas including:
• Transformation of Cleanliness Target Units
• Clean Public Spaces
• Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs
• Clean Green Utsav
• Advocacy
The students of DAV Model School, IIT Kharagpur, celebrated 'Swachhotsav' as both a habit and a responsibility. A series of activities were organized to create awareness and inspire action among students, teachers, and staff:
• Swachhata Shapath by students and teachers
• Cleanliness drive within the school premises
• Essay writing, slogan writing, debate, quiz & painting on Swachhotsav
• Installation of a selfie point at entry points of school on the theme Swachhata Hi Seva
• Human chain events to raise awareness and demonstrate commitment to cleanliness
• Plantation drives in school and nearby areas
• Awareness rallies with slogans on Swachhata Hi Seva and Swachhotsav
• Health check-up camps for SafiaMitra or Sanitation workers
• Cultural events showcasing India’s sanitation journey
• Shramdaan activity
• Swachhata classes for better hygiene, sanitation & cleanliness practices
• 'Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath' was proposed with a call to action to citizens for joining hands for nation's cleanliness.
Through these collective efforts, the school community not only paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India but also strengthened its resolve to carry forward the message of “Cleanliness is Service.” With active participation and sincere dedication, the campaign inspired every child to become a Swachhata ambassador, making cleanliness a way of life and contributing towards a greener, healthier tomorrow.
